Description

The Field Operations Engineer will oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of our Geothermal Completions operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stimulation, workover, and exposure to well-intervention operations, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a hands-on approach to ensuring efficient and safe operations. This role involves extensive fieldwork, technical assessments, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Field Operations Support: Coordinate field operations and plan schedule look ahead for well prep, stimulation, mill out, cross-flow testing, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that all operations and equipment involved comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate equipment and processes’ performance to identify improvement areas.
  • Lead technical support and troubleshooting exercises, and AAR (After Action Review) sessions with the service providers and share the learnings with the operations and safety team
  • Work closely with maintenance teams to plan and execute preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement among field staff.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on field activities, equipment performance, and production metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in field operations covering the drilling, completion, and workover disciplines
  • Strong understanding of Stimulation, Workover rig, Coiled tubing, and Fishing activities
  • Proficiency in data analysis and process optimization techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills; Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in related field
  • Preferred: Expertise with wide range of renewable energy types; familiarity with subsurface science and drilling-completions operations
  • Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Preferred: Knowledge of API and ANSI standards; Knowledge of regulatory compliance and environmental standards in the Geothermal industry

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, Texas with growing offices in Golden, CO, Oakland, CA, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be based out of our Milford, UT operations site at Project Cape. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
