Description

As the Power Delivery Manager, you will serve as the on-site leader responsible for the management and successful delivery of all high-voltage transmission and interconnection facilities for Fervo’s Cape Station geothermal power project. Your scope will encompass all construction from the power plant’s generation bus to the utility point of interconnection—including substations, switchyards, and transmission lines.

In this role, you will ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient construction execution, delivering the power delivery scope on time and within budget. Reporting to the Director of Construction, you will oversee all site power delivery construction contracts, manage general contractors, and lead Fervo’s field supervision team. This position plays a critical role in managing utility interfaces, driving project strategy, protecting commercial interests, and mitigating high-voltage construction risks.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

Project & Contract Management

  • Lead all site-based construction activities for high-voltage substations, switchyards, and overhead/underground transmission lines
  • Directly manage power delivery-specific prime and subcontracts, including bidding, evaluation, award, and execution
  • Oversee contract administration for the power delivery scope, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and invoice verification
  • Develop and manage execution plans, schedules, and budgets for interconnection facilities, ensuring alignment with project milestones
  • Prepare detailed, bottoms-up cost estimates across disciplines, benchmarking against historical data and vendor quotes
  • Evaluate alternative designs and materials, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and implement approved value-engineering initiatives

Leadership & Field Oversight

  • Provide clear direction to on-site general contractors and high-voltage subcontractors
  • Monitor and manage overall power delivery project progress, proactively identifying risks and implementing schedule recovery plans
  • Champion a safety-first culture, emphasizing high-voltage electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and utility safe work practices

Stakeholder & Reporting Management

  • Serve as Fervo’s primary on-site representative for all power delivery matters, managing relationships with the interconnecting utility, contractors, vendors, and local officials
  • Collaborate with internal project management, engineering, and procurement teams to resolve technical issues and ensure design compliance
  • Prepare and deliver concise daily, weekly, and monthly project reports covering safety, quality, schedule, and cost
  • Oversee all project documentation, including QA/QC reports, high-voltage testing packages, and commissioning close-out materials
  • Maintain and analyze the master schedule, identify the critical path, evaluate float, assess delay impacts, and communicate key risks
  • Develop "what-if" scenarios, create mitigation plans, and identify opportunities for schedule optimization and resource efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; degrees in Construction Management or related engineering disciplines with strong electrical experience will be considered
  • 10+ years of construction management experience on large-scale high-voltage transmission and distribution (T&D) projects, including substations, switchyards, and lines (69kV and above)
  • Proven success managing complex power delivery projects, including direct oversight of contracts, budgets, and schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field supervision teams, general contractors, and specialized high-voltage subcontractors
  • Expert knowledge of T&D construction practices—substation civil and electrical work, overhead line stringing, and high-voltage cable installation
  • Strong expertise in contract negotiation, change management, and constructability reviews
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, and field management software
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to convey technical and commercial information clearly to all stakeholders, including utility partners
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to high-voltage electrical standards
  • Experience in renewable energy or geothermal projects is a plus
