Description

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, supporting, and improving Fervo’s network infrastructure across corporate IT, cloud platforms, and plant environments. This role focuses on delivering reliable, secure, and well-documented networking systems that support both operational technology and enterprise applications.

This individual will work closely with internal engineering teams, cybersecurity partners, and external service providers to deploy and maintain network solutions across new site builds and existing assets. Success in this role requires strong hands-on networking expertise, sound troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support complex infrastructure in uptime-critical environments.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Network Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Implement and maintain secure, resilient network infrastructure across IT, OT, and cloud environments
  • Configure and support routing, switching, SD-WAN, VPN, and remote access solutions across multi-vendor environments
  • Assist in developing and maintaining network design documentation, topology diagrams, and configuration standards
  • Support network segmentation and connectivity between corporate systems and plant environments

Site Deployment & Systems Integration

  • Support network deployment for new site commissioning, expansions, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Configure and integrate plant systems, enterprise platforms, and cloud services into the network environment
  • Work with engineering and construction teams to ensure structured cabling, fiber optics, and other networking requirements are incorporated during site buildouts
  • Assist with onboarding vendor equipment and third-party connectivity

Security & Compliance

  • Implement network security controls in alignment with company cybersecurity policies
  • Support secure remote access solutions for employees, field teams, and vendors
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to support monitoring, logging, and incident response processes
  • Assist with network-related risk assessments, audits, and remediation activities

Operations & Reliability

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues across enterprise and plant environments
  • Partner with managed service providers to maintain network uptime and operational reliability
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, topology, and operational procedures
  • Support continuous improvement of network performance, resilience, and scalability

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6–8+ years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure operations
  • Strong experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), SD-WAN, VPN, and QoS
  • Experience working with enterprise networking hardware (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto) and strong expertise with firewall configuration and proxy services.
  • Experience supporting hybrid networking environments including cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in complex infrastructure environments

Preferred

  • Experience supporting industrial control systems or operational technology environments
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or NERC CIP
  • Experience in energy, utilities, oil & gas, or other regulated infrastructure sectors
  • Certifications such as CCNP, Security+, or equivalent networking credentials
  • Experience with network automation, scripting, or infrastructure-as-code tools

Location

Fervo Energy has offices in Houston, TX, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, Oakland, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at our Houston office will be required.
