GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT HDD

SUMMARY

General Superintendent HDD position reports to the Field Operations Manager, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position remote working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time, or as designated by site management. This position is expected to travel up to 75%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise directional drilling operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
  • Manage and mentor a team of directional drillers, rig crews, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.
  • Oversee the allocation and maintenance of drilling equipment, tools, and materials to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as drilling efficiency, cost control, and project milestones, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges, including equipment failures, geological obstacles, or logistical issues, to maintain project schedules.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on project progress, safety incidents, and operational performance to senior management.
  • Work closely with drilling engineers and geologists to optimize well trajectories and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Monitor project expenditures, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high-quality standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in directional drilling operations, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of directional drilling techniques, equipment (e.g., mud motors, MWD/LWD systems), and well planning software.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in high-pressure field environments.
  • Valid certifications in well control (e.g., IWCF or IADC) and other relevant safety training (e.g., OSHA, H2S awareness).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, team members, and management.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to address complex operational challenges.
  • Ability to work in remote field locations, including offshore or onshore sites, and adapt to varying schedules, including extended shifts or on-call duties.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with advanced directional drilling technologies, such as rotary steerable systems or automated drilling systems.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools for optimizing drilling performance.

EXAMPLES OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.)
  • Able to walk or move continuously while carrying 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.) Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
