POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Product Strategy Team is seeking a bright, self-motivated, Sr. Manager of Hardware & Systems Product Strategy to lead the roadmap and commercialization strategy for next-generation residential and light commercial solar + storage solutions across North America.
This leader will own end-to-end product strategy for solar modules, AC modules, inverters, and energy storage systems (ESS), ensuring alignment between market needs, regulatory requirements, sales channels, and global R&D teams in the U.S. and Korea. This role sits at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and market execution translating customer and installer needs into differentiated, profitable product offerings that strengthen Qcells’ leadership in residential energy solutions.
This position is based in San Francisco or Santa Clara with and flexibility to support travel for multiple projects in various geographical regions up to 25% of the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and execute a comprehensive product strategy for residential and commercial solar modules, inverters and ESS solutions, both hardware and software.
- Lead product roadmaps, market research, and competitive benchmarking to drive innovation and market leadership.
- Establish and oversee profitability analysis, pricing strategies, and long-term business plans.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, sales, marketing, and operations to align product development with business goals.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to expand product applications and enhance market positioning.
- Serve as a thought leader and industry spokesperson, representing the company at major events and trade shows.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- End-to-End Product Lifecycle Ownership
- Oversee product lifecycle management, from conceptualization through prototype development and commercialization.
- Lead product strategy, development, launch, and lifecycle management with a strong sense of ownership and bias for action.
- Ensure product decisions are data-driven and aligned with business goals.
- Product Portfolio Management and Launches
- Align with the internal sales organizations on product requirements, product roadmap, product offers, product features, and product introduction timelines.
- Develop and manage the product portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment across products, features, and market needs.
- Own the offering introduction process in the North American markets, including product value proposition for sales and marketing materials for both internal and external use.
- Deliver successful product launches that set new standards in the industrial and/or energy verticals.
- Identify cross-sell and pull-through opportunities to maximize portfolio value.
- Brand and Value
- Integrate branding strategy into product planning to strengthen product positioning and differentiation.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications to ensure consistent brand messaging.
- Develop value proposition for Qcells products for use in sales and marketing materials
- Collaborate with Sales and sales planning on pricing to ensure commercial success
- Define pricing strategies that reflect product value and market dynamics.
- Support cost analysis or risk assessment with Planning to set market sales price.
- Work with commercial and sales teams to drive adoption and revenue growth.
- Create residential solar and solar + storage market trend & market intelligence reports
- Analyze competitors’ product and service portfolio and design
- Monitor North American energy market trends, customer needs, and regulatory changes to ensure product compliance and competitiveness
- Follow and participate in regulatory and policy activities that impact storage and storage value such as incentive and VPP programs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Engineering (EE, ME, or related field) required; MBA preferred.
- Extensive experience in product strategy, business development, and market analysis.
- Strong technical expertise in solar modules, solar inverters, energy storage, and grid-tied HW and SW systems.
- Ability and proven experience to think creatively, learn quickly, and develop innovative solutions
- Strong communication skills with multi-national teammates in US and other countries
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with multiple teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Well-organized and proven ability to manage both individual and collaborative team projects
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong understanding of value creation to the homeowner with rooftop solar systems especially in PV, solar inverters, batteries, EV chargers, Smart homes, and power electronics.
- Experience with system design, installation construction standards (NEC/IBC/CBC), permitting/AHJ, utility interconnection, and product certification (UL, IEC).
- Understanding of residential grid services, subscription services, etc.
- Understanding of ERP systems, CRM knowledge, API integration
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong financial analysis experience
- Experience with solar software and business tools such as proposals, design, ordering, CRM, etc.
- Field and Applications experience
- Program management experience
- Customer feedback and closed-loop learning methods
- Third Party Ownership (TPO) and financial products experience
- Residential inverter/battery/EV charger/Smart home manufacturer and/or installer company and/or residential energy business experience

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
