Senior Manager of Customer Analytics

Kevala is looking for a Senior Manager of Customer Analytics to lead a team of energy data analysts implementing professional service contracts sold alongside our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) data platform. The ideal candidate should be a passionate advocate for decarbonizing the grid and bring a depth of energy sector, management, and Excel/SQL/Python experience. The ideal candidate will resonate with our bold organizational culture while recognizing the complexity and sensitivity of managing client relationships.

What you will be doing

The Senior Manager of Customer Analytics is responsible for leading a growing team of analysts that oversee multiple customer contracts ranging from short turnaround times to larger projects with higher contract values and many moving pieces. The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of technical implementation, strategic planning, and people management skills needed to support large clients who are navigating complicated issues within and outside of their organizations related to managing the impacts of decarbonization of the electricity, mobility, and building sectors of the global economy, including the decarbonization impacts on the natural gas system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple large projects simultaneously in order to produce client-specific analyses and deliverables on time and to the satisfaction of our clients.
  • Leveraging the Kevala Assessor platform and adjacent analytical tools.
  • Project scoping, budgeting, resource forecasting, cost tracking, and invoicing.
  • Leading the design and implementation of analytics and methodologies using Excel, SQL queries, and/or Python scripts to support project delivery and product development.
  • Develop functional requirements, software specifications, and other written internal documentation to ensure software-based solutions are well-designed to meet customer needs, as specified in contracts and scopes of work.
  • Oversee a team performing exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, anomalies, and key insights in energy datasets, and ensure data accuracy through review and cleaning tasks.
  • Implement processes for greater scalability and efficiency for project delivery and ongoing customer support.
  • Manage the effectiveness of individual direct reports including performance reviews and onboarding of new hires.
  • Possess an understanding of how Kevala’s offerings can address client needs beyond prompt contract deliverables and participate in related upselling and cross-selling activities through active customer engagement.
  • Supporting proposal development and other sales and business development activities.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Engineering or a related major is required.
  • 4-6 years energy data and analytical experience, preferably much of which within an electricity, gas, or dual fuel utility.
  • At least 3 years in a people management role.
  • A strong track record managing multiple-year projects over $1M in value.
  • Proven ability to navigate and manage ambiguity with clients in defining project objectives.
  • Experience with budgeting, contracting, invoicing, and implementing contract compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, presenting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Technical management experience in building teams, managing direct reports, and fostering career development with highly skilled technical workers, with an emphasis on developing analytics and methodologies using Excel, SQL queries, and/or Python scripts.
  • Knowledge of distributed energy resources (DERs), regulations, rates, utility resource planning including regulation and capacity impacts.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining “trusted advisor” relationships with clients.

The compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $ 155,000 - $ 178,000, plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors, including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package that reflects your excitement about joining Kevala.

This is a fully remote role which can be located anywhere within the United States. Please note, actual salaries may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, education, experience, and location.
