At Klim, we’re creating a joint movement with farmers and businesses to make regenerative agriculture scalable and impactful. As a Berlin-based AgriTech start-up, we’re empowering farmers to restore soil, boost biodiversity, and capture carbon—all while earning revenue through our platform.

Backed by $22 million in Series A funding, we’re expanding globally, partnering with major food industry leaders like Nestlé and Kaufland to help them reduce emissions along their supply chains, while making them more resilient and profitable at the same time. Since 2020, we’ve supported 3,500 farmers, covering 700,000 hectares (5% of Germany’s farmland!).

If you’re passionate about building a sustainable food system and driving real climate impact, join us and help create a healthier planet!

Your mission:

We’re looking for an inspiring Head of Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) & Certification to develop and drive Klim’s certification, credit, and MRV strategy while leading two teams of experts and scientists.

This pivotal role will shape the future of sustainable agriculture, bridging the needs of corporate clients and farmers across the agri-food value chain to drive real impact.

You’ll need strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect MRV strategy to business considerations like carbon credit pricing and risk mitigation. While we have technical expertise in-house, to be successful, you should have the aptitude to engage with technical teams, extract insights, and shape strategy.

This is your chance to lead, innovate, and transform the industry - are you in?

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead two teams of experts and scientists, fostering strong internal collaboration and ensuring alignment with Klim’s strategy.

  • Develop and implement MRV & certification strategies that align with both customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Balance technical MRV knowledge with business strategy, ensuring certification processes drive commercial success.

  • Guide certification efforts, ensuring alignment with key frameworks such as Verra, SBTi, and the GHG Protocol.

  • Oversee internal inventory and third-party registry activities to ensure compliance and mitigate risks like double counting.

  • Integrate MRV into Klim’s operations, ensuring smooth collaboration across internal teams.

  • Provide expert advice on MRV & certification strategies to internal stakeholders and prospective/existing clients, supporting engagement with food value chain stakeholders.

  • Stay ahead of insetting and offsetting regulatory developments, providing strategic insights to inform our approach.

Your profile:

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally managing small, cross-functional teams in a corporate, startup, or regulatory environment.

  • Strong strategic thinking and communication skills, ensuring alignment across teams and business units.

  • MRV familiarity with an understanding of its role in a commercial business.

  • General knowledge of key certification frameworks (e.g., Verra, SBTi, GHG Protocol), however deep technical expertise is not required.

  • Experience in Scope 3 emissions reduction, credit management, and carbon credit trading in agri-food value chains is a strong plus.

  • Agriculture knowledge at a market level is sufficient - you don’t need to have direct farmer experience.

  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual skills, with the ability to navigate complex systems and competing priorities.

  • Fluent in English with strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and communicating complex topics succinctly.

  • Highly autonomous and self-motivated, with a strong desire to drive Klim’s mission and contribute to a regenerative food value chain.

Benefits:

  • Opportunity: Be part of our journey from the beginning, working closely with the leadership team to build a new company.

  • Impact: Make a daily contribution to combating climate change, promoting consumer education, and fostering fair conditions for climate-conscious farmers.

  • Autonomy: Take ownership of your projects and enjoy a high degree of creative freedom.

  • Competitive Package: Receive a competitive salary and participate in our VSIP program.

  • Flexible work model: At Klim, we foster a flexible, hybrid work approach and facilitate hybrid/remote work (within Germany). It would advantageous for this role if you live in Berlin or can be present in our office regularly.

  • Additional Benefits: Membership in the Urban Sports Club, company pension scheme, team lunches (if in Berlin), and regular team events.

At Klim, we believe that a thriving workplace is built on the diverse backgrounds, talents, and perspectives of our team. We grow stronger together by embracing and building on each individual’s unique strengths.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best. All hiring and personnel decisions are made solely based on qualifications, performance, and the needs of the company—ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all.

If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. You might be the perfect fit for our team in ways you don’t yet realise!
