The Role
We’re seeking a results-driven Retail Sales Manager to manage existing business and drive growth within the grocery channel. You will be responsible for managing data, trade spend, work with distribution partners, and finding opportunities to expand SIMPLi’s retail footprint. This is a pivotal, strategic sales role for a mission-aligned, entrepreneurial self-starter who can future-plan while also manage the day-to-day business.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the growth of existing partnerships by developing promotional strategies, making data-backed decisions, and finding opportunities for add-on sales.
- Conduct data insights by analyzing third party data sets (Nielsen, SPINS, etc) to present to existing clients during category review meetings.
- Responsible for e-commerce sales management, including channels like Amazon, and leveraging resources to implement existing strategies.
- Support SIMPLi sales team in the execution of customer paperwork (onboarding, item setup, etc).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and account management to ensure smooth onboarding and maintenance of new & existing customer, including Private Label.
- Distributor management responsibilities including deductions, disputes, allocations, and working with Operations team for improved collaboration.
- Manage the optimization of sales growth through sales brokage partnerships, including the management of field teams, reporting, and communication.
- Assist the full sales cycle for new customers: lead outreach, pitch SIMPLi’s value proposition, coordinate samples, negotiate terms, and close deals.
- Develop customized pitches and sales collateral in collaboration with the marketing team to address specific operator needs.
- Create a clean, up-to-date CRM pipeline with accurate forecasting and deal progression tracking (HubSpot or similar).
- Organize and lead trade shows & events to generate leads and build industry relationships.
- Stay up to date on grocery trends, sustainability initiatives, and competitive dynamics to inform sales approach.
- Trade spend: Strong command of trade spend strategy and promotional ROI analysis.
Who You Are
- Proven ability to grow revenue and manage complex customer relationships.
- Deep understanding of CPG dynamics, culinary trends, and distributor operations.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
- Self-motivated and resourceful, comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Mission-aligned with a passion for sustainability, food systems, and impact-driven business.
- Willingness and ability to communicate effectively outside of normal office hours, as needed.
- Ability to work on-site in Philadelphia at least 3 days per week
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, events, and site visits (as needed)
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant sales experience in CPG or Grocery/E-commerce, ideally with natural or organic food brands
- Demonstrated success in growing strategic partnerships and managing large accounts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience working with UNFI, KeHE, or similar distributors.
