The Role

In this role, you will serve as a key member of the quickly growing Homebuilder team that operates cross-functionally with the mission to bring cutting-edge energy products to market and scale rapid adoption of SPAN products in the Residential New Construction market. This unique role combines a wide variety of responsibilities including pre-sale Design Reviews (“take-offs”), interpreting and applying NEC code related to Energy Management Systems (EMS), in-field visits to production home communities under development, creation of partner training materials and technical documents, Sales support, and quality assurance in order to support SPAN Panel deployments to new homes. You will also work with the business development (Sales) and product engineering teams to continuously improve the value of SPAN’s products to our customers through regular reporting from field applications. Your scope of work will include translating product knowledge gained through deploying products in the field into creative technical training content to improve customer experience, improve efficiency across operations, and drive product excellence.

Up to 50%+ travel will be needed to support the installation of SPAN’s products in the field. While SPAN maintains a flexible work environment regarding remote work, working from our headquarters in San Francisco will be required periodically. You should also expect to regularly interface with SPAN’s customers, including General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, Architects, Developers, Electric Utilities, and homeowners. We are key participants at SPAN’s presence at trade shows, and this role will help support staffing those events.

Members of our team are hands-on, team-oriented, creative, and most of all highly passionate about driving adoption of residential electrification and clean energy at scale. Ability to apply technical reasoning to a variety of projects and processes is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication is a must.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform Design Reviews for both New Construction and (some) retrofit installation projects

  • Develop and maintain an intake and tracking process for Design Review and “Take Off” requests from customers and Sales partners

  • Assist with load calculations when engaging with AHJs or customers to support the installation and value proposition of SPAN products

  • Sit on the cross functional core team to support our Homebuilder/Residential New Construction Sales Team members, involving sharing knowledge of valuable market trends, technical knowledge, and customer feedback

  • Create comprehensive training material and resource documentation tailored for internal Sales Team members in order to understand SPAN products, services, and value propositions to drive revenue

  • Develop and implement training and presentations tailored to installers and designers covering product knowledge, installation guidance, and best practices

  • Support Sales Team with remote and in-person customer meetings to represent all things from a technical perspective for customers while driving revenue and product adoption growth

  • Develop and maintain Builder/Architect Specification Documentation for external customer use in Plan Sets

  • Create and maintain CAD, Revit, BIM, and modeling software library elements in collaboration with the Applications Engineering Team for customer use in Design and Plan Sets

  • Provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering Team during the product pilot period, and before general availability

  • Engage with AHJs (Building Departments, Utility Companies, etc), representing SPAN’s product benefits in solving major growth in electrifying everything

  • Be an expert in SPAN’s Energy Management applications

  • Develop relationships with SPAN’s installation partners to uncover areas to improve the installation and deployment experience and assure the quality of installations and offer constructive feedback to installers

  • Serve as a champion for customer and installer experience throughout product development lifecycle by collaborating with Support/Service/engineering teams to come up with solutions for improving installation efficiency

  • Stay up-to-date on changes with NEC code cycles and share knowledge to applicable teams

  • Provide excellent customer service

About You

Required Qualifications

We are seeking someone who has:

  • bachelor's degree is not required, though equivalent work experience is

  • 5 or more years of experience in the electrical power industry

  • Advanced knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), building codes, and best practices for residential solar PV and energy storage systems

  • CAD, Revit, Figma, Salesforce, Google tools software proficiency

  • Understanding and experience with construction permitting processes

  • Experience working with regulatory agencies (AHJs, Utilities) and/or building inspectors

  • Project Management and organization experience

  • Experience creating and delivering regular reporting from field feedback

  • Detail oriented personality who proactively seeks opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Creative, passionate, self-managed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

  • Team-oriented attitude

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, construction, solar, and battery installation, or product development
