The Role:

Applied Carbon has several openings available for a Run Technician. The Run Technician is the "eyes and the brain" of our pioneering mobile pyrolysis systems, which convert agricultural residue into biochar. Running our proprietary equipment requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, plus the ability to monitor and adjust process parameters in real-time. We have positions available for day shift (6 am - 6 pm) and night shift (6 pm - 6 am). This role requires 50% travel and availability to work on public holidays and weekends. Please apply only if you can accommodate these requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor critical parameters like temperature, pressure, motor speeds, and feed rates.
  • Make real-time adjustments to feed rates and other inputs to maintain optimal operating conditions.
  • Recognize process deviations and respond quickly to prevent equipment damage or quality issues.
  • Understand the relationship between different process variables and how changes affect quality and yield.
  • Analyze operational data to optimize system performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on systems.
  • Handle mechanical, electrical, and fluid power challenges.
  • Collect soil, biomass, and biochar samples per protocols.
  • Maintain operational logs and incident reports.
  • Collaborate for continuous improvement and safety.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.

  • Must be available to work on-site at our Houston headquarters and be willing to travel up to 50% of your time. Off-site assignments typically last between 2-3 months.
  • Flexibility to work holidays as needed.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or vocational training is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and operational data.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new proprietary technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Eager to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift and transport heavy equipment (at least 50 lbs).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Passion for agriculture, environmental sustainability, and innovative technologies.
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment (agricultural equipment preferred).
  • Experience operating machinery via HMI/GUI.
  • Hourly compensation ranging from $25 to $35 per hour, based on experience
